The Chicago Gay Pride Parade will take place on Saturday June 27th for most of the day. PFLAG will be marching in the parade. Because the parade date falls on the PFLAG Oak Park Meeting date, there will be no PFLAG Oak Park meeting on that date. Our guest speakers will be the About Face Youth Theater Group. they will be performing a skit to entertain us as we prepare for summer. About Face Youth Theatre was created as a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning young people to tell their stories and create community. The exclusion of queer history and dialogue from schools, and the consistent discrimination and violence suffered by queer youth in our school system are the most immediate problems About Face Youth Theatre addresses with our multi-tiered programming.

Should be a fun time, they are a great group to watch. Hope to see you there!

All buses will drop off attendees at The Hoogland Center for the Arts 420 South 6th Street, Springfield, Illinois at approximately 11am

Anyone taking alternate transportation should meet us there.

Lunch will be held from 11am-12:30pm, during which we will discuss effective talking points and lobbying your legislators.

Attendees will have a chance to meet with their legislators from 1-3:30pm at the Illinois State Capitol building.

A debrief, reception and dinner will be held at the Station House 306 E Washington St, Springfield from 3:30-5:30pm

All buses depart Springfield at 5:30pm

The Hinsdale PFLAG Chapter is committed to serving the needs of our Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender loved ones. We are open to all persons of any sexual orientation, gender identity, and any racial or ethnic group, their parents, family members and friends, and any person who cares about the LGBT community. Our primary mission is to support parents, family members and friends who have learned that their child is gay. The chapter and others like it in the Chicago Suburban area are run by mothers, fathers, and their LGBT children. PFLAG is a non-denominational organization.

In addition, PFLAG promotes education to enlighten an ill-informed public, advocacy to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

We hold regular monthly meetings on the first Sunday of each month from 2-4 p.m. Our next meeting is Sunday May 2nd:  This month our speaker will be Officer Jose R. Rios, LGBT Liaison for the Chicago Police Department.

We always hold meetings regardless of holidays. Street parking is available in the church neighborhood.

Refreshments will be served. Our meeting format consists of general announcements about local LGBT events and news, followed by a guest speaker addressing LGBT issues and finishing with small group sessions for people to share their stories and discuss LGBT issues.

This group was formed so that young transgender children can play with other transgender children their own age. This group meets at various locations. The next meeting is this coming Saturday at 1pm. Meetings are held every third Saturday of the month. More information will be coming about this group. Heartland Alliance’s National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) is dedicated to ensuring human rights protections and access to justice for all immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers, through direct services, advocacy, and public education.  NIJC’s National Asylum Partnership on Sexual Minorities (NAPSM) focuses on representing and advocating on behalf of LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrants, including asylum and other matters. Experienced legal staff members represent clients, provide trainings and support materials for attorneys and social service providers, and respond to inquiries from jails throughout the country where immigrants are detained and seeking legal assistance.
